Ashmere Loop, Fastrack, and Connected Infrastructure

The main leisure route for pedestrians and cyclists is the “Ashmere Loop” that runs around the perimeter of the wider development. The proposals for Phase 3 have been designed to link to this loop, as well as providing ease of movement and legibility for pedestrians and cyclist moving through the scheme.

The proposals have also been designed to link to the movement strategy approved for Phase   1 & 2 and link to wider infrastructure across the Eastern Quarry development, including the Fastrack to encourage use of safe walking and cycling routes through public open spaces.

A key part of Eastern Quarry’s sustainable movement strategy is the extension of the Fastrack Bus Rapid Transit system which serves Kent Thameside. The new route is intended to provide direct access to Bluewater Shopping Centre to the west and Ebbsfleet International railway station to the east, passing through the centre of Ashmere.
